We are home after an exciting week of learning, viewing amazing quilts, shopping and spending just a teeny bit of money. Both of us realized going a second time was so different than the first. This time we knew how to navigate to make things simpler, resulting in better use of our time. We experienced classes with amazing, renowned quilting educators; Susan K. Cleveland, Ricky Tims, Dorie Hruska, Barbara Cline and Gina Perks . . . . whew, what a team of instructors we had all week.
Our time away from the quilt show was spent in Karyn’s RV at Stagecoach Station Campground. Each evening, we would arrive after a full day, worn out and ready for a glass of wine. This is the second time we have stayed at this lovely campground and recommend it to anyone traveling to the Paducah area.
Cathryn’s thoughts . . . Our instructors were people that I have admired for years. The experience was like connecting with a longtime friend, they all had that type of personality. What was most rewarding was sharing the time and learnings with my sister. My mother and I spent more than a decade attending classes and shopping at the Stitchery Expo in Puyallup, WA every March. We would take classes and buy the latest tools. (all of Mom’s tools have been passed on to Karyn) This trip was a re-living of those memories and the building of a new tradition with my sister. This is priceless . . . .
Karyn’s thoughts . . . I am so blessed to have a sister who shares her quilt knowledge with me in my journey. Two years into this I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my quilting, absorbing as much as my mind can while striving to tackle new techniques and technologies. Attending Paducah at this point validated my progression and sharing the time with Cathryn was “Sister Time,” which is treasured. We felt our Mom watching us both throughout the week, smiling down at her two daughters.
